Our client was named along with a major debt buyer in a class action lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court. A judgment against them would have set a legal precedent that would be devastating – not only for the client and the other named defendants, but for the debt buying industry as a whole.

It was critical that they prevailed in this lawsuit, and they needed to credibly and accurately inform the court about the nuances of the debt purchasing industry. If at all possible, they ultimately wanted to obtain a summary judgment dismissal of the lawsuit before it went to trial.

Solution:
We were appointed as industry experts to provide a complex, detailed report on all components of debt purchasing, including specific industry matters and practices. Our information was the primary means to inform the court as to the processes of debt buying, as well as to address several technical points integral to the case.

The court ruled in favor of our client’s motion for summary judgment. The judge’s order specifically mentioned our report as one of the key factors in the ruling.
